Those who like to admire historical sites will be amazed at what this small island has to offer. If you visit only one historical site, make it the island's UNESCO listed capital Valletta. Make sure you stop by the grand palazzo, Casa Rocca Piccola and St John’s Cathedral dating back to the 16th century. Children and nature lovers will gaze in wonder at the various creatures at Malta National Aquarium. It's home to sharks, rays and plenty of stunning fish. Others might prefer to dive down the island's water and get a closer look at the local sealife. There are plenty of diving centres on the island and you might even get the chance to visit a shipwreck or secret cove! Children and movie buffs will love a day out at Popeye Village the original set from the 1980 Popeye film is still open to visitors. You can wander around and see how many houses you recognise from the film and there are plenty of actors in character to entertain. Malta's coastline is varied so whether you want to sunbathe on a sandy beach or dive off a cliff you're in luck. Cove diving is a popular activity on the island and there are plenty of caves to explore as well. The most famous cave being Calypso's cave which is said to be the cave where Calypso kept Odysseus prisoner for years in Homer's odyssey.
