Lanzarote is one of the most popular destinations in not only the Canary Islands but all of Spain as well. The island has stunning beaches and a unique, lunar-like landscape. It is so unique in fact that UNESCO have given the island World Biosphere Reserve status to preserve it. You'll feel as though you've been transported not just to another country but another planet. For a holiday that is out of this world head to Lanzarote.
You can't come to Lanzarote and not get up close to its landscapes that look as though they are straight out of a sci-fi film. To see the volcanos that have shaped the island, visit Timanfaya National Park. The park is home to more than a hundred volcanos known as the Fire Mountains which have given the park its cratered appearance. One of the island's more unusual attractions is something that art, nature and club lovers can all appreciate. Jameos del Agua is the work of local artist César Manrique who set out to design the world's most stunning nightclub. It is set out in a series of caves which host various bars and restaurants. Come to have a cocktail, dance or admire the beauty of this special place. Lanzarote is famous for its wine, and any wine-lover should make a point of visiting one of the islands many vineyards or bodegas. There are plenty of activities for families as well, such as a waterpark, Rancho Texas Park, which is a zoo with a birds of prey experience and plenty of watersports. For something unique try an undersea submarine tout to dive 100ft below the surface and get up close to the local fish and sea creatures.
